The Japanese language has many names for colors. Some of these names are unique, meant for basic colors, some are combinations, used for names of two colors mixed together, and some are based on names of plants, animals, minerals, or even other things.
These names for colors, which are original Japanese words, are written with hiragana ひらがな and kanji 漢字 and can be found in this list. However, there are also Japanese names for colors loaned from English words, which are written with katakana カタカナ, and can be found in another list.
